Black Women In TECH
Black Women Talk Tech held it's 3rd annual 'Road To Billions' three-day conference in New York. The conference featured panelists from different technological backgrounds. Women who have been in the tech game for a long time, and those who have just started making waves. The conference highlighted how #technology is used to aide businesses in our communities. From #startups to established businesses, the women in attendance shared the same passion and dedication to empowering the next black woman to make the next billion dollar business. In addition to speakers, there was a $100k pitch competition.
I wasn't available to catch all the panelists share their insights, but the one featured guest I was able to catch on stage (hosted by Angela Yee) was former Real House Wives of Atlanta, Kenya Moore. In addition to being on House Wives, Kenya is an actress, producer, model, a new mom, and an #entrepreneur. She shared some of her experiences in starting her hair care business, MOORE HAIRCARE (one of her many businesses), and gave advices for those starting their own business. She states it's important to shop around, and network. Also, to find someone who can help with each component of the business, whether it's manufacturing, getting seed money, and so on.
Overall, the conference was a great place to be thanks to tech #founders Lauren Washington, Esosa Ighodaro and Regina Gwynn. It was a full house of empowering women, who weren't afraid of being a black woman in the #tech space and owning it.
